International Students have the opportunity to participate in fun and exciting activities all year.
Get to know other students and experience all that Nanaimo, Ladysmith and surrounding areas have to offer!
Activities and Events may vary from year to year based on availability and student interest. Students, homestays, and parents should ensure their email on record is up to date and that they check it regularly so they do not miss important notifications regarding trip bookings and schedules!

Fall Semester Activities:
Learn How To Curl
This activity is a great Canadian experience filled with many laughs and tons of fun. Whether you’re a brand-new curler or an experienced one the Nanaimo Curling Center provides a great event for everyone!
Rocky Mountain Fall Tour (4 days)
The Rocky Mountains are renowned for their stunning scenery of emerald lakes, majestic mountains, amazing glaciers, and untouched wilderness. This tour includes visits to Banff and Jasper and hopefully some sightings of bears, moose, and mountain goats!
Discover Vancouver
Vancouver is a coastal gem surrounded by beautiful mountains. Spend the day experiencing Vancouver’s natural and urban highlights! Tour may include a guided tour, the Fly Over Canada ride film, the Capilano Suspension Bridge and shopping.
Some years, this is combined with an overnight stay to experience Fright Nights for Halloween!
Victoria Day Trip
Victoria is known for its stunning heritage architecture framed by ocean views and mountain vistas. It is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This tour may include the Royal BC Museum, Parliament Buildings tour, Malahat Skywalk, and shopping.
Festival of Lights
Celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season as Ladysmith simultaneously lights up the town with thousands of festive lights! Join our Homestay Family community for dinner and discover the spirit of Christmas. Keep an eye out for Santa Claus!
Whistler Fall Ski Trip (3 Days)
Whistler Mountain is a famous winter destination playground attracting skiers, snowboarders, and winter enthusiasts from all over the world. Whistler Mountain offers spectacular recreation and Whistler Village overflows with Alpine charm.
Skating
In Canada, millions of people lace up skates every year! Come learn the basics of skating and experience gliding across the ice. Guaranteed to bring on the laughter and fun times!
Bowling
Bowling is one of North America’s most popular social activities. All it requires is a willingness to try something new and a good sense of humour! Join in for some friendly competition, some laughter, and some pizza.
Winter Social and Farewell
Gather your friends and come celebrate the completion of your first semester together. Enjoy music, dancing and games. Share your stories and say farewell to students returning home.
Spring Semester Activities:
Mt. Washington Skiing
Spend a day at Mount Washington! Enjoy skiing or snowboarding at Vancouver Island’s winter playground. Lessons available for beginner skiers and snowboarders.
Whistler Spring Ski Trip (3 Days)

Yukon Adventure (4 Days)
View the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) from a beautiful lodge on the outskirts of the northern city of Whitehorse. This trip includes all transportation and a flight to Whitehorse, accommodation with all meals provided, and winter clothing. Optional dog sledding is also available.

Experience the adrenaline of surfing in the Pacific Ocean. Explore what the town of Tofino has to offer. This day trip includes surfing lessons and rentals and time sightseeing in Tofino.

Transfer Beach Summer Social and Farewell
Gather your friends for a day at the beach! Enjoy beach volleyball, soccer, frisbee or sign up for paddling. This is a gathering to celebrate your experiences in Nanaimo Ladysmith. Includes a BBQ lunch.
