Sport Groups:
There are several opportunities for International Students to play soccer on a team in Nanaimo Ladysmith:
Soccer At Your School:
Fall – Boys Soccer only
- Dover Bay, Wellington, NDSS, and Ladysmith all offer after school competitive soccer teams.
Spring – Girls Soccer only
- Dover Bay, Wellington, NDSS, and Ladysmith all offer after school competitive soccer teams.
Dover Bay PHE Class:
- Dover Bay Secondary School offers soccer focused PHE classes where students develop their skills daily.
Soccer In The Community:
BC Surf Soccer has room for boys and girls ages 14+ who are interested in playing competitive soccer.

- They are governed by FIFA regulations and students need to obtain an International Transfer Certificate.
- Students and their parents need to fill out Checklist E (see below) of the document, include all relevant documents that it asks for, and submit to Canada Soccer. This process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months, and they are unable to play in games with BC Surf Soccer until the forms have been approved by Canada Soccer.
Nanaimo United Football Club (NUFC) offers competitive and recreational soccer opportunities https://www.nanaimounitedfc.com/
- They are governed by FIFA regulations and students need to obtain an International Transfer Certificate.
- Students and their parents need to fill out Checklist E (see below) of the document, include all relevant documents that it asks for, and submit to Canada Soccer. - In the meantime, if students wish to play in NUFC, their natural parents/guardians can create an account for them here so NUFC are ready to register them when approval is granted by Canada Soccer.

- Nanaimo District Secondary School offers beach volleyball academy where students develop their skills daily at a high level.

Mariners Volleyball Club has room for boys and girls ages 14+ who are interested in playing competitive volleyball.
